FULTONVILLE, N.Y. – Fonda Speedway opened its 2009 racing season this past Saturday afternoon with the annual Ice Jam event. On April 25, the Capital Region Sprint Agency opens its fourth season of competition at the Track of Champions.
“Fonda Speedway is a great place to start out season,” stated President Brian Grisel. “I’ve gone to Fonda my entire life and for us to get a race there means a lot to me and our organization.”
The event is a double point event with the winner receiving a bid to the RACESAVER® 305 Nationals at Fork Mountain Raceway in September.
Several CRSA drivers used Saturday afternoon’s test session to prepare for the season opener. Tyler Rice, Dylan Swiernik, Brett Jaycox and Mark Zemcik all took laps during hot lap sessions in hopes of finding the right setup to help them kick off the new year with a win.
Jeremy Quick, the 2008 series champion, will be joined by these drivers and a host of others in the first event at the historic one half-mile speedway located along the Mohawk River. These drivers all hope to add their names to the Sprint Car winners list which already includes legendary drivers like Steve Kinser and Fred Rahmer.
Gates for the season opener are set to open at 4pm with racing action kicking off promptly at 6pm on Saturday, April, 25. For more information about the Capital Region Sprint Agency visit our website at www.crsasprintcars.com.
