Tanner Takes CRSA Main at Accord Speedway |

ACCORD, N.Y. – Matt Tanner had one prior Capital Region Sprint Agency victory prior to Friday night’s event at the Accord Speedway.
His second win was hard fought as he held off the challenges of Chuck Alessi and Jeff VanSteenburg to secure his second win in the 25-lap feature event.
Tanner started on the front row alongside Chad King. At the start, Tanner went to the outside of the speedway while King dove to the bottom. Tanner’s line proved to be faster and he was able to secure the lead.
Tanner was the leader just before the halfway point when Andrew Reeves got upside down in his No. 27 bringing out the red flag. He was uninjured in the incident.
Racing resumed with Tanner controlling the event while Alessi and VanSteenburg battled for the runner-up position. The duo swapped the position numerous times.
At the checkered it was Tanner of Berlin, N.Y., taking the win followed by former series champion Alessi holding on for second.
Vansteenburg, of West Shokan, N.Y., came to the checkered in third while John Matrafailo of Milford, Pa., was fourth. Warren Alexson of Altamont, N.Y., was fifth.
Notes: 27 cars entered into competition for the event…Bruce Evans Jr., Vansteenburg, and Alexson each one their heats while John Leombruno won the B-Main….Flat track motorcycle racer, Kenny Coolbeth made his first ever CRSA start. He did not qualify for the event but spent a lot of time Friday night signing autographs for the fans….Todd Spangler was the Hard Charger for advancing 16 positions in the A-Main.
