WEST HAVEN, VT – Dylan Swiernik is becoming a force on the Capital Region Sprint Agency tour.
The young driver from Port Leyden, N.Y., captured his second win of the season on Saturday night at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway. He led all 25-laps to score the victory.
The Independence Day event got underway with Jeff VanSteenburg, of West Shokan, N.Y., and Swiernik bringing the field to the green flag.
Swiernik went to the high side and it proved to be the quick way around as he took the lead from the pole-sitter VanSteenburg.
The pair continued to pace the field and they were in the middle of a torrid battle for the lead when the red flag was displayed on lap nine.
John Leombruno hopped a wheel and took a wild ride in his No. 7B. Leombruno was taken out of the car and transported to a local hospital. He suffered a slight concussion and a sore neck. He was later released and is doing fine.
Once action got back underway, Swiernik and VanSteenburg picked up right where they left off. The two drivers battled relentlessly as they turned laps around the tight oval in the 15 second bracket.
With five laps remaining, Swiernik continued to lead while VanSteenburg ran second. Jeremy Quick closed in making it a three car battled for the win.
Neither VanSteenburg nor Quick were able to overcome Swiernik allowing him to earn his third career CRSA victory.
The second place finish for VanSteenburg allowed him to increase his points lead over the rest of the CRSA field. Quick, of Kerhonkson, N.Y., settled for third with his No. 72.
Brett Jaycox, of East Durham, N.Y., finished in third while Matt Tanner brought his No. 90 across the line in fifth.
