MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. – Billy Jaycox Jr. likes the large confines of the Orange County Fair Speedway.

The driver from Middleburg, N.Y., has three career Capital Region Sprint Agency wins counting his second career win on Saturday night at the five-eights mile speedway in the 25-lap A-Main event.

The win was part of the D&D Auto Supply Southern NY Tour Championship series.

Jaycox and Jeremy Quick brought the starting field down to the green flag. Jaycox earned the advantage as he went to the outside in turns one and two with Quick tucking underneath trying to take the top position.

Before a lap was completed, Chuck Alessi’s No. 19 got high in turn three and got into the outside wall and got over. He wasn’t injured.

The original restart again saw Jaycox take the lead from his outside front row starting position.

Jaycox was the leader when the caution came out on lap six for Dylan Swiernik when he broke the torque tube on his No. 7c. He collected John Matrafailo, Craig Rochelle and Brett Jaycox.

When the race resumed, Jaycox remained the leader with Quick pressuring him every lap. Quick went to the low lane numerous times in turns three and four trying to take the lead away, but he couldn’t get a run off of the turn to get by Jaycox.

The duo continued to battle as they raced into slower traffic. On lap 16 as they dueled in slower traffic, the pair made contact causing Quick to get into the wall and upside down in turn three. The defending series champion was uninjured in the incident.

Once the feature continued, Jaycox remained the race leader while Jeff VanSteenburg began to challenge with Matt Tanner in tow. The pair remained close as the laps clicked off.

Jaycox held them both off and continued to hold down the top spot in the event by utilizing the high-side of the speedway. This forced both VanSteenburg and Tanner to try the inside groove.

On the final lap of the event, VanSteenburg dove to the inside of turn three looking to get by Jaycox for the lead. When he did he made hard contact with the inside retaining wall ripping his car in half while collecting Tanner as well.

At the end of the wild event it was Jaycox earning the victory with Anthony Brennan, of Washingtonville, N.Y., finishing in second. Tyler Rice drove his No. 12 to a third place finish.

Chad King moved from the 15th starting position to finish in fourth with Jim McCaffrey, of Nassau, N.Y., completing the top five.
