Quick Tames Tight Confines of the I-88 Speedway

AFTON, NY – For the third and final time in 2010, the Capital Region Sprint Agency made its way to the quarter-mile I-88 Speedway. On this night it was a familiar face that was able to tame the track with Jeremy Quick grabbing his third win of the season in the 25-lap A-Main.

The top 12 redraw placed Billy VanInwegen on the pole while Quick was on the outside.

At the green Quick, of Kerhonkson, N.Y., jumped out to the early advantage with his No. 72 while VanInwegen fell in-line behind him.

They remained front two when the first caution was displayed on lap eight when Jeff VanSteenburg got into the outside wall in turn three.

The restart saw Quick again take the lead but all eyes were on Dan Hennessy and Matt Tanner as they were making there way from the back of the pack to the front. As they worked there way through traffic Quick was flawless out in front.

With 14 laps complete, the final caution of the event came out for Phil Peworchik as he spun in turn two. This bunched the field up and gave everyone another shot at Quick.

On the restart, no one had anything for Quick as he was able to run away from the field. When the checkered finally fell it was Quick winning his 10th career series victory.

VanInwegen, of Sparrowbush, N.Y., finished in second while Tanner drove from the 16th starting position to finish in third.

Brett Jaycox of East Durham, N.Y., crossed the line fourth with Warren Alexson securing the fifth spot.
