As we enter into the 2012 racing season, work has already begun, such as: scheduling races, approaching potential sponsors, and re-signing sponsors from last year. The pressure is on us trying to top the 2011 season, for it was a banner year for CRSA! We ran 21 out of the 24 scheduled races, had an average car count of 26.7, a record high of 40 cars attending a challenge race, 14 different winners with 7 first time visitors of victory lane, four new rookies, and a rookie Points Champion. We had a vicious points battle amongst the top five which came down to the last race with just one point deciding the championship! There were 50 registered members with three of them female racers. Our youngest member was 15 years old and our eldest,(let's just say near 70!)
We will have an Officials meeting in the upcoming weeks to review the rulebook and go over some of the "grey areas" that we encountered over the past season. Engine and car rules will remain the same. We will also make changes to the point system so that challenge and open races will be show-up points only. That should take some of the pressure off running combined shows and bring more fun into it.
There will be membership forms sent out to all 2011 registered members and will be made available in the coming week on our website, with a discount given to early entries. Car numbers from last year will be reserved till March 15th. Car numbers are on a first come first serve basis and there will be no duplicate numbers. A letter will have to be added if is already a number registered and it must be at least 1/3 the size of the number. (ex. 12-12a) Here are some important race dates to put on your calendar for 2012: January 7- Chassis seminar-Kreitz Oval Track March 10 &11- Gater Racing News Motorsports Expo June 9- Racesaver(R) Regional-New Egypt Speedway June 22- CRSA/TSRS co-sanction event- Penn Can Speedway July 7- Racesaver(R) Regional- Lincoln Speedway August 3&4- Racesaver(R) Nationals- Fork Mountian Virginia August 14 (Tues.)- Special Event at Penn Can Speedway (could pay more money!) October 13- Racesaver(R) Regional- Penn Can Speedway (King of the Can weekend) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following is an IMPORTANT message from French Grimes, founder and leader of Racesaver(R):
Thanks to the unfailing hard work and dedication of our RaceSaver(R) region directors and racers, we have changed the face of grass roots sprint car racing. Our foresight and dedication over 16 years has resulted in overwhelming success. This success has predictably caused others to look at our program. RaceSaver(R) has always offered to sanction any group that wishes to run our rules. Our sanction has always been offered at no financial cost. The Racesaver(R) sanction is offered at no cost in an effort to reduce the overall cost of racing to Racers. Evidently, this well known RaceSaver(R) offer is not satisfactory to some groups. As a result there will be some changes in the pricing and procurement of RaceSaver(R) heads.
1: Brodix will now list the RaceSaver(R) head in their catalog. It will be produced in exactly the same form as it is currently. It will be sold only to RaceSaver(R) and Brodix warehouse distributors (WD's). As a WD catalog item, this head will be priced commensurate with other similar products in their line.
2: Under an agreement with Brodix, RaceSaver(R) will keep in stock at Brodix, fully paid for RaceSaver(R) heads. These heads will be fully measured and recorded, in accordance with RaceSaver(R) procedures; and will available for immediate shipment. Brodix will ship the heads to any RaceSaver(R) customer upon our request. This will reduce the freight cost substantially, since their will only be one shipping charge. It will also significantly reduce the time in transit.
3: When heads are purchased through RaceSaver(R) the price will be $1525.00. We believe that this will allow our members the ability to obtain registered heads at the lowest possible cost.
4:If heads are sent to Brodix with a repair authorization number from RaceSaver(R) , Brodix may restamp the repaired head surface after they have repaired the head. New measurements will be recorded on RaceSaver(R) tech form.
5: Any head repaired by anyone other than Brodix must be sent back to RaceSaver(R) for restamp and certification. A repair authorization number from RaceSaver(R), will be required before repairs commence.
6: RaceSaver(R) will maintain & retain head history files on all RaceSaver(R) heads produced by Brodix. If questions of suitability for use in RaceSaver(R) sanctioned events arise, RaceSaver(R) will determine said suitability.
7: RaceSaver(R) will be issuing national membership cards to all RaceSaver(R) members. There will be no charge for these cards. We will need all members to supply your regional directors with your name, address, phone number, and e-mail if you have one. This will allow us to communicate more rapidly w/ all members.
8: RaceSaver(R) will maintain control of RaceSaver(R) heads. Eligibility to compete in RaceSaver(R) events will require that the heads are registered to a Region. This may be accomplished by ordering the heads through RaceSaver(R); then they are correctly registered at the time of sale.
9: In an alternative situation, and in agreement with Brodix, Brodix warehouse distributors (WD's) who build RaceSaver(R) engines will now have an option to order RaceSaver(R) heads direct from Brodix. If the heads were procured from, or by,a Brodix warehouse distributor, it will be the responsibility of the purchaser to present the new heads exactly as purchased to their regions' tech inspector. The regional tech inspector will then contact RaceSaver(R) to properly register the heads. Unregistered heads will not be eligible to compete in RaceSaver(R) events until they have been inspected and registered, either pre-race or post race.
